That's her armor. But armor is cold and heavy. She would feel lighter without it....but she would be naked and vulnerable. So ...that's why she wears it everywhere.
Not everyone has scars on the outside. But some have been cut even deeper than mere flesh allows. Sometimes, it is done to oneself, by oneself. For a great many reasons. All of which are still suffering.
The fact that she feels truly at ease when she models could suggest that looking below the surface of herself or others is difficult for her, leaving her frustrated and quick to anger. Her pride prevents her from admitting that she needs others, which has made it difficult for her to reach out to them and in turn, feel starved of true affection. Ergo, the superficial aspects of her life is her safe zone, but it's when looking into herself that she feels lost.
